Should the 2015 Bar Exams Be Moved?
Or should there be a 2015 Bar exams at all?
I know it’s kind of early to tell but since a lot of universities are adjusting the start of their school year from the traditional June-March academic year to August-May, I think the 2015 bar exams should also be adjusted.
Next school year’s law graduates will barely have 4 months to prepare for the bar. And I think that may not be enough for a lot of students (though, of course, law students should have been preparing for the bar from the first day they stepped into law school).
And in the spirit of fairness, the 2015 law graduates should also be given 6 to 7 months after graduation to prepare for the bar. Just like their predecessors were given that length of time to prepare. If given that same period, then that means the next bar, after the 2014 bar, may be in February or March 2016!
Also, considering that by that time, there may be a new set of Rules of Procedure (or even a new and updated Penal Code), I think there should be more reason to move the next bar exams after this 2014 bar exams.
The Constitution may even be amended to conform (?) with the Bangsamoro Agreement. This is also a stern warning to the 2014 bar exam takers to not fail this year’s bar because the 2015 (or 2016 bar) may be one of the toughest due to the upcoming legal updates.
